Rest day

Early in the morning, while the rest of us slept in and enjoyed breakfast, Mark went out for a ride on the rest day. Here are some of his pictures.

Ride up to Alsace Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg Castle for a tour with Mac

Talked with Mark and Lisa about his trip around Ribeauvillè, and possible trip to castle.
They chose not to go to the castle, but Mac stopped by to ask about going.
We tried to get an Uber up to the castle, but none were available.
So we ended up riding double on the Ducati without crash suits because of the warm weather.

The castle tour was fascinating. Not guided so we could spend as much time as we wanted looking at details. We spent about two hours exploring the castle.

Buying Fancy Torte Fromage

We met the world's best cheese sales-woman.
She had us tasting everything and was passionate about the types of milk, processing techniques, etc.
We ended up buying about €50 worth of fancy cheeses.
One of our favorites was a gouda that uses stinging nettle leaves to coagulate the milk.
It has a distinctive nutty, herbaceous, acidic and silky flavor.

European White Stork

This is our first encounter with White Storks.
They are a good luck charm in Europe bringing fertility and prosperity.
So people encourage Storks to nest on their homes and in their villages.
This one comes down to get scraps from the restaurants.

Children's park in Ribeauvillè

We relaxed sitting in this park eating our chocolate and cheese.
