After sleeping in to 11am (9hrs of jetlag) we went out for fancy coffee at Cafè Napoli
Kathi had a sweet, Caffè Pistacchio encrusted chocolate coffee, apparently a specialty of Napoli.
Tuesday market
We lucked into this big, well-stocked open air market run by a large proportion of African imigrants
Imagine taking the middle 4 lanes out of a 6 lane boulevard and replacing it with beatiful cobbled walk-ways, lush trees, and parks for kids.
Moto Guzzi V7 Special 850, might be a good size for Kathi if we found it in an Italian rental fleet.
Legami
Legami is a popular Japanese brand of stationary, art supplies, and children's back-to-school stuff.
Kathi is impressed by all the motorcycles parked everywhere.
Walking to the Duomo to meet Ana
Kathi going wild looking around at her first real look at the streets of Milan
Duomo shopping mall and cathedral
Spinning on Milan’s bull
In the center of Milan's covered shopping mall across from the Duomo is a fantastic mosaic floor. And in the center of that mosaic is a prancing bull. According to popular myth, you should place your right heel on the bull’s balls and spin around three times (without falling on your face). This is supposed to bring you luck, or maybe grant a wish, or maybe guarantee a return to Milan. I only made it around a single turn and almost fell on my face, but so far, The Luck Of Chris™ seems intact.
Lunch at Cafè LaVazza
I love these Renault TWIZY electric micro cars. They make a SMART Car look positively huge.
Rental bikes. Ana used them, but we didn't get around to it. I'd like to try them someday.
Another micro car, parked sideways.
Castel Museum
Ceiling artwork undergoing restoration. I'm amazed at the condition from which these are restored.
